5 Things to Watch for When Buying a Used ATV
Aug 23, 2016 - 9:59 AM - by ATV.com

Quote:
Buying used is one of the best ways to get a good deal on a vehicle, especially an ATV. However, you can't be too careful. Here are some tips from our staff of experienced ATV buyers that can help you sort the peaches from the lemons.

You'll want to give the ATV's motor and electronics a thorough looking-over. Start with the engine oil -- visually inspect it for moisture, particles, and other things that shouldn't be there, and make sure that the color isn't too dark. You'll also want to get your nose in on the act by smelling the dipstick, to confirm that the oil doesn't give off a burnt odor.

Next, check the coolant -- you're looking for particles of oil in it. If you find them, it's a red flag.

Finally, confirm that all of the electronics -- headlights, tail lights, key switch, and engine shutoff -- are in working order.

2016 Can Am Defender First Ride
Oct 09, 2015 - 3:42 PM - by NickJ

Work. Work is the thing that we generally have to do to keep the lights on at the house and shoes on the kid's feets. What is that old idiom? 10 percent of the time I do what I want and the rest I do what I have to. BRP has been making grin-inducing machines for the better part of the last century and all this one, so they know something about making the most out of that valuable 10 percent. They took a look at the working part of your life for 2016. Enter the Can Am Defender.

The Defender is the new utility based UTV. The Can Am team hosted the press fleet at the gorgeous Harpole's Heartland Lodge in Nebo, IL. Harpole's could not have been a better place to show off this machine and to stuff us full of delicious food and tasty drinks. The place is gorgeous.

The utility market is pretty much owned by a few players: Polaris, John Deere, Kubota. Why would Can Am want to wade into the deep waters of the utility market? Well, contrary to my belief, there is a lot of market left out there as many industries and properties are still using trucks where a UTV would better serve. Who better to provide tough, capable, and clever solutions to these folks than Can Am?

What you care about

The Defender is offered with two different engine options and 5 trim levels. That sounds like a lot of information to take in, but think about it this way: Decide on the 800 (HD8) or the 1000 (HD10) engine and then how much stuff do you want and need. For those looking for the basic work machine, you are looking at the base Defender, and you can get it in any... [Read More]

Introducing brp’s first utility side-by-side vehicle: The can-am defender
Sep 21, 2015 - 10:26 AM - by NickJ

Can-Am Defender family: BRP’s solution for consumers in the utility side-by-side market. BRP 2015
• Can-Am Defender: A utility vehicle for farmers, hunters and estate owners
• Can-Am Spyder: Expansion of F3 line-up
• Sea-Doo: New 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine takes riding to the next level

Nashville, Tennessee, September 21, 2015 – BRP (TSXOO) introduced its first utility side-by-side vehicle, the Can-Am Defender, at its semi-annual dealer meeting where it was met with great enthusiasm by the approximately 2,300 dealers and distributors in attendance from 65 countries.

“This event is one of our biggest ever! It demonstrates the strength of our distribution network, its enthusiasm for our new products and its commitment to our brands,” said Anne Bélec, senior vice-president, Global Brand and Strategy. “They are looking for products that will appeal to consumers by their design and technologies as well as their comfort, durability and performance.”

New Can-Am Defender utility side-by-side vehicle
For those who know the Can-Am brand, BRP makes its debut in the utility side-by-side segment by injecting some of the Can-Am DNA into the Defender model. The Can-Am Defender vehicle was designed and engineered from the ground up, to establish new standards in terms of torque and power, as well as versatility to cater to all types of outdoor activities. BRP leveraged its proven Rotax engine technology to create a work-focused version of the durable V-Twin Rotax engines, specially calibrated to offer the best torque of the industry: the new Rotax 50-hp HD8 or 72-hp HD10 engines.

Can-Am Spyder
For 2016, BRP will expand its presence in the largest segment of the motorcycle industry, the cruiser segment, with additions of the F3-T and F3 Limited models to its existing F3, F3-S and F3 Special Series vehicles in the Can-Am Spyder F3 line-up. These new models are loaded with comfort and convenience features to offer greater freedom, flexibility, and extra cargo space. All Spyder F3 models are equipped with BRP’s exclusive UFit system that allows riders to adjust their riding position to find a truly customized fit, feel and riding... [Read More]
