Installing a Ron Wood Pipe on a 2007 Renegade 800

Image

The kit comes with ceramic coated front head pipe, a rear head/mid pipe and the canister. It also includes 25 feet of copper impregnated pipe wrap and enough clamps, bolts etc to finish the job.

The first thing to do is wrap the pipes using about 1/4" overlap with the material and secure with the provided stainless hose clamps. As per instructions I purchased a can of high temp copper spray and sprayed on several coats. I let this sit overnight. This will help toughen up the surface when cured.

You will need to remove the front/side covers, seat, under seat heat guard, and the tool storage box. The box can be taken out by removing the 2 small bolts in the sides and pulling it out. This allows you to get at the can mounting bolt/nut without removing the rear fender. Then remove the stock exhaust can and pipes. Save the gaskets and reuse if they are in good shape.

Start installing the mid pipe first which is probably the toughest part of the whole job. The inside nut can be a bit frustrating to say the least. Tighten finger tight only. Make sure the gasket is in there.

Next check the gasket and install the front head pipe, again finger tight only. Then hook the two supplied springs.

Loosen the band clamp and slide over the canister end and slide it onto the mid pipe. It may take a little finesse to get everything lined up. Install the hanger bolt and tighten the clamp. Tighten the head bolts then hanger bolt.

Reinstall the under seat heat guard and roll it outside before starting it. It will smoke as the copper coating cures!

Thats it. It took myself and my son about 3 hours. You might want to order the spark arrestor/supertrapp discs if you don't like it loud. Trust me this thing is loud!!
