Need help selecting tires for outty 1000xt
Ok, I have narrowed down my choices after much research for new tires on my 1000xt outlander. I ride trails and mud and want a smooth ride that doesn't make the bike wobble on hard packs surfaces and maximizes traction on the mud. Below are pictures of my final choices.. I need your help to help me pick.
Option 1
ITP's mudlite xtr 27-10-12 rear 27-9-12 front

Option 2
Maxxi Zilla's 28-10-12 rear 28-9-12 front

Option 3
Maxxi Bighorn(original, not 2.0) 27-10-12 rear 27-9-12 front
Option 1,2,or 3?

Tuff call between option one and two.. Zillas are lighter but xtr's will be way more durable. I would think the xtrs would be slightly better in thick mud but im not sure. I had a set of 25 inch xtr's on my rzr and really liked them. My commander has bighorn 2.0s and for what i use it for they actually work really well. I use it for trail riding in summer with some mud and winter trail riding with snow of course.

I would go with the bighorns. Okay, not the best choice for mud, but on hardpack, they would be best. They will last longer than the other two possebilitys.

From a durability perspective, is there really that much difference between the zilla's and the itp's. Aren't they both 6ply?

Lean toward Mud - XTR's, lean toward trail, Bighorns. Depends on your driving style.
Most of the boys around here use Big Horns and seem happy. I personally, as I do allot of hard pack trail and groomed snow, I run ITP Terra-Cross. You don't hear to much about them here, but I find them to be the perfect compomise with excellent wear.
Good luck on your choice.

I've owned a few set of Zillas... Great all around tire! Of the three I would pick the Zillas Price for performance they can't be beat. But..... I've been looking at the pitbull growlers lately and with the research I've done on them they WILL be my next tire.
