Question How wide can I go on 1000XT stock rims?

I have a question for you guys running wider tires on the stock rims of your 2012 Outlander 1000XTs. I have a new set of 27x12x12 Maxxis Mudbugs for the rear of mine that I want to put on the stock rims. Do I need wheel spacers to keep them from rubbing on the shocks in the rear? Is anybody running wider-than-stock tires on the back of their 1000 without spacers? I've got 27x10x12s for the front, and it looks like there's plenty of room up there. I'm waiting till after my 10 hour service to put on the new tires, but would like to have the spacers on hand if I need them. I'd rather not run spacers if I don't have to, but if I definitely need them then I will. What spacers are the best? (brand, material, cheapest place to buy, etc). Thanks for any insight.

Most get aftermarket wheels which aleviate any issues. A few have added tires to stock rims. Check out the wheel and tire section on the site, I think there are a couple posts.

Default Slyder01 are you out there?

Slyder01, are you running spacers in the rear of your 1000? I can't tell from the pics on your "new tires" thread how much clearance you have between sidewall and rear shocks. The rear tire I want to use is 12" wide (not 11" like yours) but I'm not having much luck with responses here. I am not going to get aftermarket rims.

IIRC the Gen2 frame got a different arm setup than the older ones, so that shouldnt be an issue.

I have a 06 650XT that I put 26x12x12 Kendra Executioners on the rear and 26x9x12 Bearclaws to the front using stock rears.

I took in to the dealer to see if he could sell it so I could get into a 2012 650XT Max. The guy that bought my machine wanted the mag wheel so I let him have new and tires off the 2012 and the dealer hasn't said anything but any issues....I guess we will see how it works out on Tuesday.

I will most likely be saving my money and switch from the stock OEM wheels to some ITP Delta Steel Spoke rims and Maxxis Bighorn Radials later.

I just put 27x10x12 Swamp witches on the front and 27x12x12 Swamp witches on the back . All on stock rims. No worries, they fit no problems. I searched everywhere trying to find this exact answer and couldn't find it either, so I just went out and bought them and gave it a shot.
