DPS Problems on 2012 Outlander
So, how many others are having problems with their power steering on their new 2012 Can Am?
Anyone want to buy a four month old POS Outlander 1000XT?
The reason I got rid of my 2011 Outlander was for this same reason.
So, I need an atv that I can ride, not have in the shop. ?

Whats the dealer telling you, I'm assuming you have taken it back. maybe time for a different dealer/ tech?

A lot of new bikes had faulty PS but the dealers took care of them via BRP, and now they are still happy and riding. it must be your dealer either don't know nothing or he does not care about customers. just my

Hey Wyoming guy ... don't forget to tell everyone you had your tracks on !! ... and do'in some spring type track rid'in !!
It would seem, tracks really work the PS unit ... as well as the cooling system. Anyway's that what I think from my own "Overheated" experience runn'in tracks ... cause I've never had a problem with either the PS or the cooling while running tires ...
Just my

Gunny, don't make use the Mr. thing again.
The tracks aren't the problem. I've heard of a lot of guys with Can Am power steering problems who never had tracks on their machines. And really, think about, the tracks shouldn't be a problem if a guy isn't spending a lot of time turning back and forth while going slow.
Maybe it's a design problem? Try driving your Can Am down a paved road WITH TIRES on ice. You'll find out quickly that the power steering goes crazy trying to correct back forth. Maybe it needs to be a driver initiated power steering system instead of a computer initiated system?
Either way, Can Am hasn't addressed the problem from previous models to this new 2012 model.
As someone mentioned already, yes I have a very poor dealer near me. I will be driving my machine to Denver this week.
Slyder01, I'll sell this POS to you today, but it's a more expensive POS than two grand. If I had only spent that on it, I wouldn't be complaining. And by the way, if two grand is all you can afford, you can't afford this machine because it will cost you more than that in gas money to drive this POS back and forth to the dealership. ONLY one thing worse than a POS, and that's an, expensive POS.
If you think I won't sell it, ask what happened to my 6 month old 2011 Can Am. It's gone.

If you had already known the issues were so horrible, then why did you buy such an expensive POS. If i knew a machine of any type, auto etc, has horrible issues i would never buy.
I also know the frustration with having a machine that was a lemon. i had a popo that had over 7 grand of work done to it in a year and a half. Along with that it was in the shop over 4 months in that time period. Had a good dealer though

Well I've poured through these forums endlessly over the passed couple of weeks and this is honestly the first thread I've come across regarding DPS issues. Sorry to hear you're having problems but this could maybe indicate that the problem isn't quite as wide spread as you're making it out to be. Have you called that dealer in Denver at all? Have they told you something that your sub-par dealer did not?
