well i finally had some time to install the 650 helix. wow, what a difference it makes.
now i must be the odd ball in this testing, but my RPM's actually dropped when i put it in.
800 helix + dalton green/yellow primary and three empty dalton weights and three stock outlander weights:
low gear
engages around 2,100 rpm.
jumps to 7,200-7,250 rpm and stays there for a little bit then climbs to 8k at about 40 mph.
high gear
engages around 2,100 rpm.
jumps to 7,050-7,100 rpm and stayed there till a little past 40 mph and i ran out of room.
same primary setup + 650 helix:
low gear
engages the same.
jumps to 7,100 rpm and starts climbing right away to 8k at about 40 mph.
high gear
engages the same.
jumps to 6,900-7,000 rpm and pulled to 7,150 rpm a bit past 40 mph and i ran out of room.
it definitely pulls harder now. in low gear, there was no stalling at 7,100 rpm. it jumped and pulled instantly. it really wants to yank the front end off the ground, even with the 12" wide 29.5's and the front rack fully loaded.
it'll smoke the tires bad if i'm not careful. i'm not trying to tear up my laws, so i don't really give it full throttle off the line.
tomorrow i'll be testing it in the mud. but so far i am completely happy with the performace and dollar for dollar this is the best mod i have done to my outy:ban:
i had to file where greg showed because i had gouging on my stock parts.

I would bet that you were slipping your belt to get those RPM's with the original 800 helix.....your RPM's sound quite high for running 29.5 tires.

if anything, the tires were spinning. i ran it today with the cover off so i could keep an eye on it and easily change to the 650 helix. i cleaned everything after i took the cover off, including taking the primary and secondary apart to properly clean them. when i take off, i give it partial throttle to get it moving, then pin it. if i pin it off the line, it'll either wheelie or spin the tires, neither of which i wanted to do for the testing. its possible that the belt was slipping with the stock setup, but it didn't feel like it and it never sounded like it.
we are running the same clutch setup now that you removed the weights from your dalton weights. what rivets did you have in the dalton weights before you put in the 650 helix?

No rivets before. With 28" Bugs pulled 6400-6500 with the Dalton kit, stock helix. With the slip-on pipe my machine went away from two different stock Outtys with stock tires.
Now, I'm at 3000 feet, and ride from 3000 to 6000 feet....so I'm down 9 to 18% horsepower over guys that run at sea level.....so this may explain our RPM differences.

well i got to play in the mud a bit yesterday. no belt slipping and it pulled very well. i towed/pull started my buddy's AC 300 a few times yesterday. even with him in gear, it pulled him just fine. i had to pull him through a few deep holes to get to dry land a couple times and it pulled strong even in the deep stuff. the 650 helix definitely makes a big difference.

Just got4 new 10x29.5 Outlaws mounted on my stock wheels, did the 650 helix with stock spring & 3Renegade + 3 Outlander weights. Pulled real well on the trails in high & did extremely well in the water & mudin low. Starts to engage about 1800 & 7100 at wide open. Real strong mid range pull. Really satisfied with the mod.
