Here is a picture of the helix mod after completed. I have a bone stock renegade, except for maxxis 'zilla tires that are stock size. Stock helix, the bike would go to around 6000 rpms when gassed from a standing start. With the helix mod, it goes to around 6800 rpms and steadily climbs from there. Just riding around, it behaves somewhat like a lower gear has been installed. I think this is the ticket for big tire machines, looking for more gear. I don't have a mud quad to test it on, however this helix belongs to a member here, and he will be trying it out shortly. Hopefully he will post his results on here when he has a chance to try it.

This angle is milled back pretty good, and it depends on how much it has been milled, but the movable sheave may have to be filed down a little to keep the sharp edge of the aluminum sheave from digging in to the plastic. I'll post some pics on what needs to be filed in a few minutes.

Stock on the left, mod on the right. \/

Secondary after it's filed. You just want to file off the sharp edge to keep the alum from digging in to the plastic helix, as shown by the shiny aluminum, filed away.

No, the filing is only to keep the aluminum secondary sheave from digging in to the plastic helix due to the change in helix angle, it has no performance advantage. The helix angle change is where themagic is done, the filing is just to accommodate the change in angle.
