While out riding today on my outty 400 max, I tried one mud hole to many. The mud came up to the top of the seat then the engine stalled. After being winched out I checked the air box and it was dry. But the CVT was full of muddy water. We lifted the bike’s front up to drain as much water out as possible, but the following problems are happening.
First, the solenoid on the starter stopped engaging while trying to restart the engine.
Secondly, when it does start it runs rough unless you hold in the override button.
And finally, the display is showing it to be in park when it’s in neutral. When it’s in high or low its okay.
I plan on pulling the cover off the CVT case tomorrow along with charging the battery. I’m also going to pull the spark plug to clean and check it. I check the oil tonight and it is still clean and clear. I hope I can get the bike running tomorrow without having to take it into the shop. If anyone has suggestion please send them.

You are most likely going to have to pull the clutch apart and thoroughly clean it. Dirt gets in there where you can't see it and screws stuff up

Hi Jeeper,
Good luck, You have a long day ahead of you. I can feel your pain. The second time I had my 800 out on a poker run everyone wanted to see how the 800 with the 29.5s on would do in the mud bog. So I decided to give it a try. It was one of those oil run offs from a gas well I believe. Well you could not see any oil from the outside and the typical mud hole looked to be about 20' long. (whats the worst that can happen? get stuck and pulled out?) So I went for it and boy did I learn a big lesson. Got started into the hole and about 5' therethe machine just sunk out of site. I jumped off and tried to push the machine through with the throttle pushed wide open. I was up to my chest in oil. What a mess. (believe it or not noone wanted to jump in and help?) I had (2) 10hr days in tearing off every piece of plastic and cleaning out just the exterior of the machine. After 20 bucks at the car wash. Luckily for me the inside of the cvt case and air filter were completely dry!!:dan had some luck!) I had to clean out the cv joints, brake disks, radiator, frame, etc. Moral of the story is the "stick test"!! I figured out that to usemy head would'vebeen to take a stick to measure the depth before diving in!:clp: My wife and I spent all night scrubbing my riding suit, gloves, bootsto get the oil out, recipe (2)( 200oz jugs tide!). The good news is its now well lubed up for a few miles! Purple power was the strongest cleaner I found to work the best.. I was worried it would be too strong but it worked great! That article on installing the drain plug in the cvt case is a complete necessity on this machine.
