2005 Can-Am Rally 200

Bought this Rally ATV with a starter problem. Seller said it was the starter. Bought a new one and I have the same problem!

Sometimes the starter engages and sometimes it does not. When it does engage it has problems turning the motor over and staying engaged. Also has a new battery. Can anyone help out there? I don't want to have to spend hundreds of dollars to get an answer from a dealer.

Check the starter relay.

faulty starter relay perhaps?. it may be haveing a hard time staying contacted during starting. try to jump the 2 large post on the starter solenoid and see if it cranks over fine. do it a few times and just see if it fixxes the problem. if it does, then you need a solenoid, if it doesn't, maybe you have a start button issue....don't be scared of sparks.haha

This area is for a how-to, in other words, once you have figured out the problem, a post in here explaining the fix would be cool.

So I'm moving this to the can-am area.

Jumped the starter solinoid and it turned over pretty well. Ordered one up.
