Default Rubberdown Lift. Comments.

Have had the rubberdown 2" lift for a while now. Noticed lately that the front supension seems noisey. Whether the noise has been there all this time I don't know, but I would assume likely. Had my dealer tech go over the bike this week for a few maintenance issues, clutch clean etc..., so here is what I was told and showed. I'm not beating up on rubberdown as I believe they have some very nice products, I'm just sharing info. The lift has a block that installs on the bottom of the front shock that gives you the lift instead of installing on the top like a bracket lift. It seems that since this lower block is only bolted in to the stock shock location with a through bolt and then the shock is bolted on to the top of the block with a through bolt, there is nothing that keeps the block from moving from the inside and back to the outside when the suspension is unweighted. The movement is very slight but enough to make it sound like something is not quite right. The end result is a very slight wearing of the a-arm where it is allowed to move back and forth. Kind of creating a very little notch in the a-arm to the outside of the lift block. Don't really want to change lifts but as time goes by it certainly will wear the a-arm more. Gonna try a top bracket lift and see if this alleviates the noise prob, and pretty sure will stop the wear prob. Again not beating up on rubberdown up until this point has been a very nice lift and very easy to install. Just pointing out some info. Show a pic of front lift.

huh, i thought it would have had something to "key" it's location and prevent rotation. that sucks that it doesn't.

Nope just the block itself. As I mentioned it dosen't flop from side to side loosely just enough movement to cause a slight noise and a very minimal amount of wear. The rear part of the lift is just a spring spacer and very nice quality with no probs at all with that part of the product.

Try giving Paul a call and see what he can do. At least bring it to his attention.

Thanks for the e-mail, you must have been one of our very first customers because that steel lift block is our first design. We have since changed to an aluminum block to prevent any wear on your aluminum a-arms. We also changed the block making it wider and we also adjusted the machining on the lower portion to get rid of almost all of the play in the block when it is bolted in place. We didnt remove 100% of the play or else with Can Am tolerances, and our machining tolerences all stacked up in the wrong direction, you might end up with the odd machine that will not be aligned properly for the bolt to go through all the holes, so, we have to leave a little bit of room for error.Heres what the new and improved kit looks like, if you want to e-mail me again with all of your info, we can get you a replacement front kit shipped out ASAP!Sorry for the inconveniance.heres the kit,

that has to be the nicest looking 2" lift around. i'm glad to see it was something that has already been fixed.

the rears are spring spacers. they do not lift the rear, but they do max out the shocks, which will give more GC when you're sitting on it.
