Warn Winch grease

Took apart my 2.5 Warn Winch to clean everything......just wondering what type of grease to use and how much to put in....read somewhere that someone used Synthetic NL2 but I can only find multi purpose NLGI Synthetic grease...would this be ok?

I'm not sure it's really going to matter what grease you use in the winch.
Just don't pack it in there like I did. It makes it hard to freewheel.

I used super lube on mine. Any grease that repels water should work better than that sludge they put in from the factory. As trailrider said, don't use too much as it actually makes things worse.

when i took my brp/warn winch apart there was only two small dabs of grease on the gears.so i cleaned and dryed regrease and oiled . my favorite synthetic grease. works a lot better and swaped out the wire rope for synthetic.

I actually did the same thing, and using too much grease will make it hard to freewheel.
