Just looked on the BRP fische, and the '09 Expedition sled has a different cover, stator, and flywheel, than our atv's do, same motor though. Is this what is being put in the atv's, now, for the power steering system?

The 2010 Can-Am Technical update book says it will not fit. The crankshaft is different. It has a oil passage to help with the increase in heat that is produced by the extra output. The wire harness is also different. A new Mosfet type regulator is also used. The flywheel is different also it has stronger magnets.

that's the kind of info i've been waiting to hear it can be done then, but my concern will be in the mosfet regulator. it may need the 2010 ECU to control it, depending on how its setup.

The old regulator, is just that, a regulator. The ecu doesn't even know it's there, in other words, the bike will run without the regulator at all. The regulator simply charges the battery. If the new one is the same way, it will work with the older ecu.

On the crank, maybe we could drill the old crank for the extra oiling. I wish they would put the fische up, so we could look it up. Does anyone know where we can find an online fische for the 2010's?

i've seen ECU controlled regulators. my old car had one. it made upgrading the alternator impossible. adding a second one was the only option. it actually had a 2 part regulator and if the half in the alternator was not there or not working properly, the car would not run right. i really hope that can-am doesn't do anything like that, but i've seen it before.

The parts are up on the dealer site, and if I was better with a computer I could put the photos you want on here. The up date book says that there are 4 different crankshafts. For the 650-800 with dps is 420219745. The wires on the harness are also bigger to ad to the list above. It also states (The magneto is similar in size but includes stronger magnets). Let me know if I can help you more.

Can you tell us if the regulator has 5 wires or not? The older units had three wires that runs directly to the stator plate, (three yellow) and the other two runs to the battery, one plus (red), the other minus (black).

mrrpm it is your day I have the 2010 wire diagrams in also. The reg on the 2010 ps (650 watts) units has three yellow wires that go to the mag one red that goes to the batt side on the starter solenoid, and a black wire that goes to ground at the same place the battery grounds. I do not have any 10's yet to take a look, but that is what the diagram has. The tech update book says that the new reg is bigger and has inproved heat dissipation property. Hope that helps.
