So the STM weights must be already heavier in the tips than what we would normally use for our application then, correct? How detrimental is the tire size on the weight needed? I have a basic idea on this stuff, but still a lot to learn from all of yall that have been doin it, I appreciate the feedback!

its not that the tips are heavier, it has to do with the curvature of the weights and the center of mass. if you dispersed the mass through all three holes, the RPM's would drop during shift out because they generate more force during shift out than the stock clutch setup. i fought that for a while and the STM weights are the ticket to get a flat shift out. i've tried many others and i had to start custom grinding weights to get it right. the STM weights all you to really load up the weight where it needs for low end pull without killing your top end.

no problem. once you get the weight installed, post up your results with them. i haven't used them yet, but i'll be tuning two bikes with them shortly.

What is the angle on the stock helix ? And how do you determine what angle one would run given so many options ?

run what comes with the secondary and see how it reacts to your setup and go from there. you could probably talk with mark at STM, greg, or gohard and see what they've come up with for good setups they've tested.

I installed the both the primary and secondary STM clutches on thursday before we went to the dunes for a couple of days. Wow these are awesome. they are very quiet unlike the comet. I put it together with all of the Tungsten weights it came with on the heels and that was way to much weight as I could only turn 6k rpm. So I pulled all of the tungsten out and just ran the arms it came with and I still only pulled 7k. Since I had no other arms to try I just left it. but the whole setup works great and is easy to work on. Im gonna install the turbo cams and turn the boost up from 10lbs to 14 or 15lbs. then I will see if I need any weight change on the arms then. probably not. My Arctic CAt Prowler also tips the scales at 1360 lbs with no driver.

what mass base weights did you start with? with that much weight of the UTV and a turbo, i would expect the shift out to be higher than 7k, unless you got some really heavy base weights.

I think the base weights said 50 on the arms. With two of us onboard I would get a little belt squeal on take off. when pulling out of camp. just a little squeak. Im also running the silver spring in the primary that I was running from Dalton years ago.

I just ran what it came with from STM.

i really need to get the billet setup so i can start playing around with it and can see how they react to different springs and weights.
