Just received mine for my '07 Outty 500. The ATR spine really looks like a quality piece. Will probably install it next weekend.

X mr
Is this spine going to work on the 2011 Outlander X MR? I heard there is now some kind of support or brace in the 2011's
Quote:
The Chassis Spine is a fully engineered solution designed specifically for this application. We designed these as an extrusion made from 6061-T6 Aircraft grade aluminum. This product went through many revisions until we ended up with a shape that is low in weight while adding the needed rigidity.

I think the best answer to this qestion is, think about how many people are running ricochet skids w/o any problems.

My Chassis Spine Installations
Check out this word document to see how my ATR Chassis Spine installation went. I think this product is one of the most important upgrades for your CanAm.
Nevermind. Apparently you can't upload a 1.45 MB word document to this forum. 19.5 kb limit on a word document? What's up with that?

After four years of having my Ricochets on, I pulled them to put 'em on my new '11. Some comment on your question:
1. The through bolts suck. They were badly corroded. I bought new stainless ones for the job.
2. The allen head bolts suck. They get damaged and have to be drilled off.
3. There was an evenly displaced mud collection on top of every plate, front, rear, a-arm. The factory paint held it at bay with no problems.
I was shocked at the licks my Ricochet had sustained. It's my opinion that they should come with skids from the factory. My '11 had this Fisher Price plastic goober thing on the center of the frame. They should save the money and stop doing that joke.
And yes, there's some stiffening material in the front of the new '11 frame. I won't be doing a frame mod.

You could weld the plate back on if you wanted. I don't have pictures of this yet but what is also included w/ the Chassis Spine is a bolt that goes horizontally across the rear of the spine thru the 2 holes in the chassis, and sandwiched between we have a machined aluminum spacer that runs behind the Spine. I don't think it's really needed as i can't imagine the Spine being able to slide out once in there, but we thought better safe than sorry. We spent quite some time getting the tolerances just right where it was a very snug fit.. but not so tight that it made it too difficult to install.
Jeremy
Thanks. Do you need to weld the plate back in, or can you leave it out?? Will it hurt leaving it out??
Word on the street is that the 2011 Outty's have the front part of the frame strengthened?? Have you heard of this??

So it is welded on all 4 sides?? What did you use to cut it??

Had the crap beat out of it, or what?? Are the weak points where it is broken?? Or where the front/rear suspension mounts to the frame??
