Someone noted that according to the the water temp gauge they added, the 800's thermostat opens around 205 degrees.Â* Does anyone know if a cooler thermostat is available, say 180 or 190?Â* If not from BRP and assuming (a BIG if for sure) I wonder if these things are somewhat standard throughtout the industry.Â* Could one from another mfgr work?Â*Â*The reason for the question is two-fold.Â* I've read with interest the discussion about heat and coating the exhaust system, and I drive at 7.500' and up.Â* Water boils at 198 degrees at that altitude.Â* If the pressure cap fails...I'm toast.

With the correct mixture of antifreeze you should be ok, antifreeze not only lowers the freezing point but it also raises the boiling point also. Looking on a bottle of cheap wal-mart antifreeze with a 50/50 mixture protected to 265 degrees.
