2012 1000 xt cooling system

How is the new cooling system / radiator size helping on the heat issues? Do the new 1000's get as hot as the 800's used to??? What about the new radiator location? does it clog up easily? Is the fan mod necessary?

I noticed a big difference in how fast the temperature drops when the fan kicks in. They improved it for sure.
The cooling mod I have makes my fan kick on at 180 degrees keeping my engine running at a cooler temperature. So it has nothing to do with overheating in my case.

The almighty TUNE MONSTER allows me to set my fan at whatever settings I want.

I don't have a temp gauge but seat of the pants feels to me like the fan kicks in earlier than it used to. It's also a big loud thing and seems to cool it down pretty quick. There's 5 or 6 of us with the new bikes and I haven't seen anyone overheat yet and a couple guys had them in the heat in august.

My 1000 runs cool, rad is bigger and also an oil cooler. There is more shielding that runs under your left leg as well where the 800 never had it. The rad is tilted back in the chassis more, I think that could be to let mud or water run out of it better than the more straight up design. No probs at all with mine and it is all stock. If I end up mudding more in the spring I will put the rad up top as that is the only way to make sure it stays clean.

They did lower the on and off temp of the fan. It was either 5 or 6 degrees as I recall. But same for both on and off.
Am I right though that if you let the bike set an idle the fan will come on at 203 like the old bikes.
