Very good question, but if your buying it on eBay then it's the new style.

eBay - Gatorback

The video of Rene1 testing the belts was July 2009 and he said he just bought it I believe.... So the design may of changed but like the other guy said they probably had alot of old stock... Also that date you see is when "the belt" is available, not necessarily the new style... I don't know when the new style hit the market but my guess is 2010+

That's not how I interpreted it. These belts were available way before Nov. 8, 2008. Look at some of the reviews were in 2007.

If that's the case then people got alot of old stock for a while... Look at the tiny picture on the left, see the outer part of the belt... That's the old belt i think.... hard to see I guess.

I'll have to read the reviews but I have right around 10hours on this belt and couldn't be happier, I was chirping after 3-4 hours on the stock belt.

EDIT: Read the reviews, The reviews are bad, blown up is what I see the most. Of course those arn't on Renegades but RZR's and such..

Outty - Have you done the throttle body wedge mod yet? That may be a quick fix for your belt chirp, I didn't get to test if it gets rid of the chirp as I don't have a chirp now, but if you took a 3/8" end mill across your wedge I think if would give you a quicker engagement and reduce the sound of the chirp if not eliminate it.

I personally did 5/16" to be on the safe side and I'm happy with the results.

How is a wedge going to make the clutch engage quicker? The clutch goes off of centrifical force? Put your same clutch on a 90 cc motor and the engagement will be the same.

The time it takes to get to engagement will be less.... Once you've done the mod or just removed the wedge it's almost instant engagement. Stock it's a bit of rev to engagement.

"MY" chirp was "upon" engagement.

Update on this Goodyear Gatorback?

I've got over 3500 miles on my original BRP belt and still measures within spec and looks great ... I'd never look at an aftermarket belt (decades of experience trying) except for the noise the new OEM belts make. I bought one of the new xxx 302 belts and it was brutal for chirp and squeal so I returned it right away. Very interested in how this Gatorback holds up.

Same here, if it wasn't for the noise I would never consider a different belt over OEM. I'm in the process of testing the Dayco XTX and so far so good but its early, I need at least a hundred miles before I call it good or a heavy load test like climbing multiple hills along with a bunch of drag races. EPI severe duty is another belt I've heard good about, it's actually priced higher than the OEM.

I swear I updated this..... I'm up to 10 hours on this belt (never think to reset the Odometer)

So far I've tried everything to get it to squeal, chirp, etc. it just won't, I climb hills, ride through water, Ride very technical, etc... so far I will never buy a OEM belt again..

Here are 2 of my latest videos with the gatorback, and the "BATH" one is right at my 10hr mark on the belt, and it's after driving around for 4 hours on it, so I know it's good and hot. The 2nd video just watch the first min of the vid, you see me barely hit the throttle and you hear nothing but POWER, haha lol.
