Gonna move this to a more appropriate forum. You'll get more "views" here.

Unplug spark plug cable then remove the spark plug.
Remove valve cover (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD).
To place piston at TDC, pull rewind starter to rotate
crankshaft until piston is at TDC compression position.
Or take off CVT cover and turn by hand.
Remove screw
no. 1 and sealing washer no. 2.

Look for the screw to the right of the front output shaft with a slight angle pointing downward,
position about 4 oclock to the shaft and about 1 inch (25 cm) < or> away from output edge

Use a screwdriver to check for groove in crankshaft
is aligned with the hole.

Try and download the manual for a 04/400, it does refer to the 330 in there.

If it were me I would take off CVT cover, then take out spark plug, attach plug back to plug wire like it was in machine and ground body of plug to cylinder head and turn key on and turn motor over by hand with primary front clutch, till you get the spark at plug, now you should be close to TDC. Stick a drinking plastic straw into cylinder and now rotate motor back and forth till you feel motor piston at TDC, now you could set the cam with marks on side of cam gear and install chain if that is what you were trying to do. Hope this helps

When you get it locked on TDC align the two marks on the cam gear to be parallel with the valve cover gasket flange of the cylinder head.
