I like the look of the 14" Climax's and the tread pattern of the 27" swamp lites. How will the ride improve over stock? I understand that a power loss will happen but will it still be powerful enough for the trail? And how about the rims? Will they give a really stiff ride ver rough terrain. Here in MA/RI, trails are really beaten up.
thanks

I dont have the climax wheels or the swamp lites but I do have the ITP 14 inch wheels and ITP 27 inchmud lites and they handel teriffic.No issue at all with the setup I have.First time I got to try them out was last weekend on some very difficult and wet rock climbing....no problems.
There is a very low level of power loss at top end speed and I have to mash the gas now to get it to pop a wheelie but that's ok as it has the look I wanted.My brother has the original tire/wheel package on his and in a drag race he beats me by about half a quad but he does have a somewhat more difficult time going where mine quad goes.

:ban:HEY SIERRADMAX, I AM RUNNING THE SWAMPLITES ON ITP SERIES 7 RIMS, 27".
THEY ARE RUNNING GREAT FOR ME, THEY DON'T SEEM TO WANDER TOO BADLY AT HIGH SPEED AND THE MUD CLEANS OUT NICELY. ONLY HAVE ABOUT 100KM SO FAR ON THEM, BUT AM GOING ON A POKER RIDE THIS LONG WEEKEND. HOPE TO SLING A LITTLE TERRA FIRMA AT THE REST OF THE PACK. LOL.
HAVEN'T HAD ANY DEALINGS WITH THE CLIMAX RIMS, BUT I AM A BELIEVER IN GOOD PRODUCT. IF YOU LIKE THEM, AND THEY GIVE YOU A RISE, TRY THEM.
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RIDING.
DOONORTH:dan::dan:
BTW- I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY SIGNIFICANT POWER CHANGE WITH THE BIGGER TIRE. STILL TOO DA-- FAST FOR MY OWN GOOD.

I have 12" climax rims with 27" swamplites. they are awesome. they do wear pretty fast though. about 1/2 inch of wear in 400 miles. I don't like that the tires do not have a bead protector. But so far no damage to the rims yet. You will love them

14" wheels will give you a bit more control in the handling department due to the shorter sidewall...but they also give a rougher ride...due to the shorter sidewall.
One thing to watch with Swamplites...they will throw huge amounts of gravel all over anyone riding beside or behind you...if you look closely at the arrow pattern on the center of the tire, there are 3 small round holes in there, just the right size to grab a small stone and throw it at the guy behind you...but these tires do have some awesome traction as well, it's a trade-off.
Bighorns and Terracross also come in 14" sizes...with no gravel throwing holes cast in the tread pattern...

I had 26" swamplites. They wore fast and the ride is not as good as a radial tire

If you are a trail rider then I would suggest the Bighorn 2.0's...they are light and a radial..
