I'm going on a ride on the 14th and It looks like there going to have snow still. So I need a set of heated grips and thumb warmer. Do all sets have 2 seperate switches. Also can you wire themfrom the same power. Are the switches water proof. Where are you mounting them. What brand is the most comfortable? Thanks for any help and pics.

I use the Polaris under grip heaters. They look like the Dual Star setup. I wire them to a 12 volt switched source on the back of the ingnition. Using these I can put any grips that I want on there and change whenever I like. I have been using them on my Scrambler 500 for two years now. I have a new set in the toolbox waiting for the Renegade to show up. They work extremely well even at -50F up here in Fairbanks Alaska.

I got theseplus a thumb warmer running on the same control. They are bigger diameter which seems to be the drawback of several others. :2cent:

get the symtec winter pack. I have put on about 6 sets of these this winter, and they work great. they have seperate thumb and grip control, each with 5 positions of heat. It is a very nice set-up, and installs very easily in about 30-40- minutes.

If you need more info, hit me with a pm.

i got the expensive symtecs too and they are perfect size and neat install and comfy and appeared to be the nicest set-up goin, but i (and my friend) find them inconsistent as far as heating goes. Not sure why, maybe just inconsistant battery voltage but i dont think so cause my friend has them on a 660 griz, and i had a different brand on my griz which were very consistant. But all the brand have their downfalls. I think i seensome like webrebels that come with thumb attached now(not sure if they were labeled kimpex or not). They'd probably be as good as anyIF u got big hands cause they're extrabig

Downfalls that i remember off-hand........

Symtec----inconsistant,pricey

Kimpex,moose,others(same grips,different label)----kinda too big for some,seperate thumb wiring(maybe not anymore)

Kimpex ,others, under grip type----harder to get a neat, reliable install, seperate thumb wiring, flimsy external resistor

BRP,hotgrips,others----- small,hard,plasticy grip,seperate thumb wiring(brp easy)

There, that'll make it harder for ya:lolol:

I think i found what i thought i saw,worth a try imo........(the top of page ones)
It says thumb is hotter than grips. I've found the same thingwith the under grip type & thumb hooked to 1 switch, and remedied it by putting a thin piece of rubber over the thumb heating element before shrinkwraping. I usedapiece from a bicycle tube patch kit and it workedgood making them heat equally

if i were buying today these would be it

I just order one of these. A 4 zone hand warmers, thumb warmer, and a$$ warmer.

Roland was very nice to deal with. 1-763-571-9193 call him for a price or email him at roland@symtec-inc.comI hope I like it. These look to be the nicest around.

Thats the setup I am currently running and was running on my previous bike. I think it is a very good product, never had an issue with em' or my hands getting cold. The set I had on my old bike would loose the settings when you shut it off but the new one I just installed saves your settings.

I bought the heated grip kit off Aerostitch - $30 incl shipping and wrapped them around 1/2" copper pipe which makes a tight fit inside handlebars. Ran the wires through the center of the handlebars out a hole I drilled in the handlebars. They work better than I thought. Low heat is barely there and high heat nice and toasty. I bought a thumbwarmer kit off a clearance rack at my sled shop. Thumbwarmer is on a separate circuit and I epoxied a snowmobile thumbwarmer to my standard throttle. Make sure the supply circuits are off when you shut down the ATV. - Winch circuit stays on with the key off.

I just tried it out yesterday on a 92 mile ride. Everything worked great. It was nice to have a warm butt. the grips got real hot on 5. I ran them on 3 the rest of the day. I would recommend this set to anyone that rides in the cold.
