Anyone know when brp will do a model change. I was thinking 2009, I for one would like to see a 1000cc outlander since artic cat came out with a 1000cc quad. I hope it would have some improvements added to it. I coould see a 1000cc outlander max in my future. What is the mass opinion out there. Do you think they will do it? If so when? What would you like to see on it?

I think they will, but I am betting its a 2010 model released early in 2009, 13-18 months from now. Polaris is rummored to be working on a liter class machine as well, it would not surprise me to see the polaris come out with a larger then 800cc machine by the end of 2008. :2cent:

cc1999: Is there, or is there not, gains in hpif BRP upgrades the ECM in timing. I know you are not part of the design team, you can just say 'I don't know'.
Also, Iknow you saved us as a group a lot of individual money by spending your own before us, and not much reward forit. Pls reply to this as if you had never given any mod informationin earlier posts, a summary of $ vs hp, you could summarize it in one or twosentences. Pretend we're all newbies, cause a lot of us are. Thanks.
PM me next time you're coming thru Colorado, I'll show you some stuff. I'm thinking of Red Cone, if you've been there, we can go south.
reddog, it just hit me, I hijacked your thread. Sorry, but if 1999 comes back with what he knows, it will be worth it to all of us.

If my understanding of the ECM is correct, then yes a timing bump would help, but unfortunatly that is a sealed part of our factory ECM, and a simple update is not able to alter that particular function, we would be looking atbuying anew ECM, shoud BRP decide to offer such a change on future models. or as part of a dealer upgrade pkg or something.
Best bang for the buck I ever got,was still a simple slip on HMF, nothing more, no filers we ever testedgained anything, TFIs proved to be pretty much a joke, unlessyou plan to run NOS ordo some major internal mods, pretty much NOS was all that ever proved to need an altered fuelmap, and then ondual map TFI would work with the Nos systems. One map for normal, and one for when the NOS is being pumped to it.
Iwould really like to check out red cone sometime. Is that pretty close to the colorado springs area, seems like I might have seen a sign or maybe I saw it on a map at some point. I have herd the name at some point anyway. I mainy have only been riding in the peaks areas like Taylor Park, Pitken, Bonaza, Alpine Loop ect.ect.

Timing helps but not a great deal. It probably wouldnt be a seat of the pants difference.Advance will help the bottom end and Retard will help the top end. On nitrous you want your top end retarded more than normal. Id say something like 4 degree's retarded for n20, and maybe 1 or 2 degrees on motor. Some where around4 degree's advanced will help the bottom end.
But this is just my opinion.

an advance key would do the trick .. lie to the ecm and make it think it was acting normal and still advance it a little
