Guys, is there a substitute for the isoflex grease called for in the reassembly of the one way clutch on the primary on the outty? Stanzor is getting ready to do his and I bet he'd have to order some of this so thought I would see if there is a high temp grease he might be able to grab at checkers that would work for him. Probably wouldn't hurt for us to see if there is something cheaper than 50 bucks a tube out there to use in its place..

Look for the sythetic caliper grease good to 500 deg I believe. Not sure of its lubricating properties.

I have to admit it, I simply put some of the Amsoil sythetic on mine.

Not saying I'm right, I just can't justify the price of the isoflex.

I can't imagine that viscosity is a big deal in that particular application other than to ensure it stays put and doesn't melt off.. so now that I have said that, i guess viscosity IS a big deal. So then some kind of high temp grease.. the brake stuff might work. Next time I have mine apart.. I'll be the guinea pig! Actually, two times from now.. somebody hooked me up with some isoflex already. So if I remember in two years, I'll let you guys know how the high temp stuff works out..

I forget. Who was it that was our resident oil expert? The one who had the good info on the Schaffer's oil and molly additive.

Maybe he could figure out why the Isoflex is regarded as a precious metal.

That would be dez... I'll pm him. I didn't even think to ask him. Figured I would throw it out there to NBM as well, he might have the inside scoop for us.

Mine just came in yesterday. If you send me a little SASB inside a bigger box, I'll put some in a baggy and send it to you.

thanks much mtnoutty.. but I got my supplier already.. QuadZ already sent me some, should be enough for a while. The reason I started the thread was for Stanzor.. he's thinking of breaking down his clutches and about the only thing I could think of that he would need and couldn't readily get was the isoflex.
