Default thermostat

Is there any negative effect to removing the thermostat? I,ve always thought my 800 runs hot, I have a temp guage and it doesn,t take long for the temp to get to 200+ and the fan kicks in and brings it back to 180 and cycles steady for the rest of the ride. I,ve done the rear cylinder washer mod and didn,t change anything so now I removed the thermostat and seams to running cooler and when the fan does kick in it brings the temp way down, just wondering if there is a negative to this. My rad is clean and on the rack, also am I correct in thinking once I install a pipe and fuel pc111/ a/f reader my motor will probally run cooler as long it is programed correctly. thanks for any input

While were on this subject. I had my quad in the shop and the tech set my buds for high altitude. It made it run a lot hotter. My quad usually runs 175 and the fan rarely kicks on unless stopped. After he changed the altitude setting it ran 200 and the fan was on almost constantly. I ride at 2500-8000 ft. and I run a hmf pipe. I took back in and had it put at the sea level setting and all is well. If you are having non mud related heat problems and are below 8000 ft I would take it in and make sure the Buds is set at the sea level setting.

The high altitude setting is a leaner map. Too lean in my case. This will cause more heat. I had no problems until he F*cked with my settings. Now my seat and fender is melted. As soon as he put it back I could tell a difference in how it run too.
