Default 09 intake on my 08

I reccomend the mod big time. It was a huge imporvement I now beat my buddys identical machine no problem. I am seeing speed and RPM that I never had before. The machine ran flawless. If I was going to burn down it would have happened as I rode like stole it. the plugs looked scary perfect. The bottom end still there the mid range better the WFO way better. I gained 3 mph on the level and now see additional speed and overrev on slight downhill like 77mph 8000 RPM. Remember I have the heavy 08 Max not a single & I weigh 235. Those that say the 09 filter is where all the power comes from must be at leat part wrong. my machine has stock exhaust an a K&N filter with a prefilter. Bottom line the best bang for the buck I have ever done on anything. My buddy i was finally smoking scoured my quad trying to figure out what I did after he has to pay up 20 bucks for losing to me. Now he is wondering if there is somthing wronfg with his ride...Life is good

i've heard that the '09 intake is good for 2-4 hp, depending what other mods are done to the bike. the '09 filter is good for about 4 hp and is the closest thing to having an open TB as possible.

Sgraven, I got a stock '09 XT (for now). wanna line'em up?

Mine is slow compared to what some others say they are hitting.

Would be nice to have a direct comparision.

Off topic. but does the '08 K&N filter the same for '09's? I checked today and they only had an '08 listed.

Have Fun!

the '08 filter will work on it if you get the '08 elbow. the '09 filter does away with the elbow, which is a big reason why it yields higher power.

The K&N did not change the perfomance, I am sure they will come out with an version like the 09 soon without the elbow. Other guys on this site are making their own using a UNIfilter. ICON wher are you at in MN?

Mine used to be slow but I am happy now.....If K&N makes an 09 style filter I may add to my 08...well maybe anyway because I do not knoew if I have anymore fuekl available for more air....

Thanks for the heads up on the performance guys. Will put that one a little farther down on the list for now.

I live just west of the cities in Buffalo.

I would like to do the 09 air filter, intake, as I already have a slip-on. I have an 07'. Does anyone know the settings for the pcIII (or any other module) without mapping this with a wideband. I don't have access to a tuning facilty and would just like to get close or rich enough so it doesn't go booooom!
