I'm upgrading to Silverstars also but this past week i put on some extra lights and ran a new switch to the pod. Changing from 35w to 55w is a difference but having the 35w and adding 55w makes a nice touch.

As I have done in probably 20 vehicles, HID installs have become VERY simple. New kits with "slim" ballasts simply plug in to existing headlight connectors.....nothing else! I'm just finishing an H4 install in my 800, and the only difference in this install, is to remove the factory headlight connector from inside the rubber bulb at the light to outside, to give the connection some space to happen. I am using an H4 single filament setup, which means no high beam, however I have found low beam HID's to be much better than any high beam incandescent setup. I also have removed the deflector shield on the bulb, as all riding is done offroad. The ballasts will be mounted somewhere up front high. (not sure exactly where yet) I have not had great success with hi lo hid setups, so we'll see how the single beam works. I buy my kits on Ebay from a store named Autoluminate at an offer price of $45 free shipping. I always order 4300K range (color), as these are almost pure white. I have been adding extra lighting to my vehicles for 30 some years and have tried all types and wattage ratings of lights, and nothing compares to HID! (they produce approximately 3X the light of an incandescant bulb) Come out of the dark side...GO HID!

If I may, I would like to throw in another question, I am getting my first ATV Thurs (2010 800EFIx)and I am going to Dumont Dunes on President day weeken coming up. I really want bright lights, are the stock ones ok or should I go ahead and get some better ones, and if so, which would be the brightest? I dont care about the price, I believe you get what you pay for, oh yeah, one more thing, make it two, where do I get aftermarket bulbs for my unit and are they hard to install. Thanks for your help.

Go to Ebay and type in Autoluminate (store)....I use the slim ballast type, which requires no additional wiring either than plugging in to factory connector. See my first post for some specifics on an Outty.
