First Mods (sorta) on the way
Well, I couldn't stand it any longer so I ordered my first mods for the Outty. Granted these are super low-tech but I figured I'd start small. I'm getting a set of Rene pegs and the pre-filters for both CVT and air filter. I have no idea how much good the pre-filters do, but winter is coming and I plan to be out in the snow with this thing so maybe they will help. They are cheap enough to give it a try, I figure. I'm excited about the pegs too. The little riding that I've done, the low profile pegs that are on it don't give me much confidence in my footing. The Rene pegs should fix that. I also routed my tranny vent up to the pod area and my rad overflow tube to a better spot so it won't run all over stuff if it's overflowing.
So, not too exciting compared to skids, clutch kits, snorks, etc....but still fun to tinker and should make some small improvements. Maybe I'll post some pics when I'm done.
Have a good weekend everybody!

Good luck on the mods. I also thought of putting those prefilters on for winter also. Make sure to check them alot to make sure they are not getting dirty and cutting down your airflow though.

Well, I got the renegade pegs on and the air filter prefilter. The CVT prefilter actually specifies in the directions that it is only to be used in the winter or it may cause the belt to get too hot. I guess I hadn't thought of that I just figured it was all season extra protection from dirt getting into the CVT. So I didn't put it on yet.
Did a small 30 mile ride in Atlanta, Michigan that weekend and other than 36F degrees and rain (my hands were darn near paralyzed by the time we got back to the truck) I had a blast. The 500 seemed to be more than enough for the little hills and small mud holes I encountered. The new radiator and overflow seemed to keep things cool and the renny pegs worked great. I'm almost to my 10-hour service and hope to get that done before snow falls.
I was wondering if any of you have re-mounted your factory Outlander pegs in a different location after you put on the renny pegs. I was thinking of mounting them back towards my heel or possibly lenghtwise along the outside of the floorboard. I know BRP sells a "traction kit" but I fgure my original outty pegs would do the same thing and they're already paid for. Anybody...???
