Air Filter

I recently purchased an 09 filter for my outlander. This past weekend i had a mishap that resulted in my ride being turned on its side. When I opend the filter cover I noticed oil in the cover as well as on the filter. Can anyone please help me clean and salvage this $70.00 filter.

the manual said only clean with compressed air. i had a dirty filter and wasn't ready to drop $80 on a new one. so i let it soak in a mild dish soap then rinsed it[dawn] and it cleaned it up good.

The 09 service manual says use compressed air??? That sounds foolish. Do they state a psi to regulate the air at? (like 30psi or something)??

06-08 states just wash with soap and water. Let air dry. You need to reoil green foam.

The filter for all years is synthetic made not paper. Its washable. Its not made just to be replaceable.

The twin air doesn't flow near what the stock filter does. But a bigger restriction does filter better. But the stocker filters fine enough to pass oem quality and for a 3yr warranty.

You can wash the stock oem filter???? Thats new to me!

I thought you could only wash the green part.

I bought a UNI filter and I don't notice any difference in hp but is good because its a "lifetime" filter.
