water pump leak
At first I thought my 07 outlander 800 water pump cover gasket was leaking so I replaced it, then started it up to check and it was leaking. Found out its the weep hole on the side of the engine. I already searched the forum for ansewers. Now I have a few questions on the which way you guys got it repaired. From what I've learned I can either take it to the dealer to get the whole engine tore down and repaired or I can use Bars Stop Leak to plug the weep hole. What has everyone else done? If you don't mind asking how big of a service bill did the dealer give you? If you used the Stop leak what product did you use, how's it holding up for you?
Any help would be appricated.
Thanks,
Clint

I'm doing this right now on my 06! My weep hole started leaking out of the blue and didn't take long to empty my radiator.
You do not have to take it to the dealer, I pulled the side cover off the water pump and you have to remove the two seals and replace... then do the weep hole upgrade and your all set. Right now I'm waiting on my two seals to arrive and meanwhile I am going to do the weep hole fix using some sort of fitting with clear tube!
The service bulletin shows everything you need and explains the work required. I didn't have to have any of the special tools they called for to get the seals out but you have to be careful not to damage the aluminum casing.
Most threads I have seen said there dealer had them in and out in one day taking a couple hours! so I can't see it being too much!
Good luck!
