I dont think you will be able to tell. Here is how to decode the VIN

Make/Model: (Digits 1-3) This breaks out the vehicle's make, model, and manufacturer.
Vehicle Features: (Digits 4-8) These digits identify the various features of the specific model — trim specifications, driveline options, etc.
Verifying #: (Digit 9) Determined through a complex mathematical formula that relates to the other numbers in the VIN; used to verify that the VIN itself is not fake.
Model Year: (Digit 10) Represents the vehicle's model year, which is not to be confused with the year it was sold or delivered.
Assembly Plant: (Digit 11) An internal digit that shows where the car was built.
Sequence Of Model Production: (Digit 12-17) These digits indicate the order in which the vehicle left the assembly line. This is effectively the serial number.

2008 Can Am Outlander 800ish, Custom Snorkels by Dicks Powersports, 2" pipe lift, Rox Pivoting Handlebar Risers, W.O.C's Custom Dry Tube, 29.5" Outlaws (skinnies), PCV-3P Tuned, RDC Custom Radiator Relocate, Ride & Rest, SafeGlo 6' LED Whip "Deep South Depth Finders"

thanks. Here's what I've got:

VIN: 2BVEKSM158Vxxxxxx
2 Canada
B Bombardier
V (vehicle type or manufacturing division)
E Outlander
KSM1 (model details)
5 check digit
8 2008
V (assembly plant)
xxxxxx SN

it’s those 5-8th digits, KSM1, I was trying to figure out. I believe they code for color and engine size (and others?).
From other sources I’ve figured out this is a 400. Maybe it’s the K?
