Installed the new BRP grips on my 08 Outty this weekend. Thought I would provide some pics of the install. Things went well, the only thing that was a PITA was trying to cut the left side of the hand guard next to the new hand warmer controls. This was mainly due to me taking my time with the Dremel so I didn't mess it up. Making the adapter from my existing key accessory plug with a weather-pack on the one side was pretty easy. I bought the Delphi crimping tool kit (
) to do it right, glad I did as I actually messed a couple up and had to pop a couple of the crimps out. The other included tool allows you to removed the crimped piece from the outer part of the weather-pack. In one of the last pics I used 1/2" locking Nylon hole plugs from my local Home Depot (UPC 030699147489 - I was in the nuts and bolts section, near the furniture repair items are) to fill where the old toggle switches were on the gauge pod. They were white, but I used a black sharpie to color the tops and will paint later on if needed. They plugged the holes perfectly and look good in my opinion. BTW, I am not fond of the winch rocker switch being on top, so I'll be moving it below once I get the new mounting kit this week.
Hope everyone has a happy new year!
Tony

Nice job and I really like how clean and professional the wire job looks. Having the XXC with the rene bars allowed me to not have to cut up that hand guard. One thing I did was move the winch toggle to the bottom as its easier to hit with the thumb. I used one of the small brackets to connect to the bottom bolt of the other button cluster. I don't know if you have that option.

When i had my polaris i just got the ones that the wires went under the grips and they had 2 temp settings, they worked well and kept my hands toasty
I have the BRP unit and they are great. Feels like the stock grip, but will cook your hands on the top setting. I like the 2 toggles to seperate the hand and thumb as well, as I prefer the thumb less warm. All around, I recommend the BRP product.

Thanks, I ordered the Warn rocker switch bracket to put it below like yours, which looks great by the way. Hopefully it'll be in this week. I haven't been riding since I installed them, however the grips feel like they have more cushion and I bet they'll be great to ride with.

The grips are not quite as soft as the factory ones but better than the symantec ones I had on a prior bike. The only negative I have heard was some guy up in Canada had his plastic break in -20C temps. Now I don't know if it was a fluke because BRP makes these same units for the sleds and they are always in colder temps. Don't know if we got the full story but for me I rarely am out in temps below zero.
The sled ones have lights behind the yellow rockers which I am going to look into. I am happy with my choice.

Working on installing the 2012 heated grips on my 06 800XT and have a question - the male and female connectors on the heater control switch are redundant? On the 2012, that these are designed for, there is a dummy plug on the atv side that would then plug into the redundant plug on the heater control, correct? And then the other heater control plug would match with the atv side where the dummy plug was, if I am reading this all right. I'm guessing here that you cut the matching plug from the heater control and wired it to the atv heated grip connector for your atv, and that is what I am planning to do tomorrow but if you, or someone in the know, can respond soon enough to confirm or correct I would appreciate it. What a great forum!

yes you're exactly right, on the 2012 the grips harness plugs into the dummy and then the dummy goes into the plug on the harness. Not sure why they did it this way, my guess is to maybe provide a daisy chain to feed other accessories as well?
