Would a broken key effect my outlander starting?
So my key is about to break in half and Im having trouble getting it to start...I have to turn it all the way and then back a little (between the lights on and regular on) for it to start...I think my key may have something to do with it but I dont want to spend $65 on a new key and that not be the problem (but I do need one anyway) I checked the green start button...its not that..and Im thinking its either the starter solenoid or the switch...any opinions..?

Not sure but either way you need to get a new key anyway so why not try that! Better than having it break off in the ignition!

It could be the problem. I went through the same thing with a wrecked Rene I bought a few years back. The guy hit the key and bent it over. I bent it back and it would start most of the time but it finally gave out on the trail and I almost didn't make it back home. You will have to take it to the dealer, buy a key and let them program it.

My bet would be the key. Mine did the same thing and eventually it broke off and wouldn't work at all. New key, and the problems were gone. Good luck!
