exhaust fan runs at the ideal temp already. no sense in messing with that. they run real lean is the primary problem i believe.

I ordered the dobeck ejk and i have not done any of the other stuff you see, so i will be able to tell if its that one i get it and put it on. just by my experience with having to richen the stock tune on all the ones i have had and having that cool it down i think that will do it

The fan comes on at a hot temp. I think it's like 210F on the 800. We set ours to come on at 170F and it was the single best heat fix on the g1 800 for me. Stock pipe and no tuner on my xxc.

Running lean is the primary problem though.

The stock fan is crazy hot when it comes on. Like 200-210.
I set mine at 160 and it helped.

My buddies and I wrapped ours. But we did one wrap not 2. Also when we park our bikes after wrapping we let the engine warm up until the moisture stops coming off the bike. You do not want to park the bike with the wrap wet. It made a nice difference. I also have my radiator relocated and I did the fan mod. I just had my ecu reflashed from MR. RPM and that made a huge difference because he adds fuel and he sets the fan to come on at a lower temp. So in the end it may take a couple differnt things to get the bikes to cool off. But I found no one thing was enuff for me. But it gets pretty hot here in NC. You might want to start with blinky box or a PC5. The stock PC5 map adds a good bit of fuel to the fuel map for a stock 1000r. That may be all you need. Good luck and keep us updated with your results.

How do you do that? Can a local brp dealer lower brp fan on on the mpi?

Hayden fan controller you can get at the auto parts store and wire in yourself or a reflash like Backfire1 said. We used an infrared thermometer to set the fan temp on a cold start and then set the other 2 to the same position.

Go to NAPA and buy a Hayden Fan controller. Roughly $40 if I remember right.
Do a quick search on here how to install it.

really unnecessary that is the temp cars run at and all quads pretty much, it makes the oil happy. and it makes it so the fan is not running and wearing out. on my prairie whe the rad was clean before i tuned it it would be on any time i was less than 20mph or so which is 95 percent of the time and when i tuned it, air flow kept it cool enough to not run over 5 or so which is almost all the time. you go from have it run constantly to only when you are under 5 for 10 minutes or so

I'll take airflow and cooling over saving the fans longevity!

some more thoughts --- on my 2009 650 max I wanted it cooler on leg. I ceramic coated it and then wrapped it, including muffler. I don't ride mud or water. When I wash it I do take a mile or two run to dry it off. Have controller also. I still feel the heat on leg but less. Did think with doing all the above there would be a bigger change. Have put off fuel controller but do think that might be on the to do list this year. Most of my riding is at 25 or under.
