Default mid range loss... i think

me(renny) and my bud(has a renny x) were riding a few days ago for an hour or two and the motors were pretty hot and it seemed his had more mid than mine when we would pin the throttle. i got a g/y spring dalton kit and his is stock, both have stock tires and i just cant figure it out. im running steel weights and i dont think i did anything wrong, could my belt be getting too hot and slipping more, what gives, with that kit shouldnt i be pulling harder than stock from bottom to mid or is it basicelly like a stall converter on a car...... i do miss the days of just having to deal with a sprocket on my ole banshee, it was alot less complex than clutching a cvt!

From what I understand, the Dalton basically just stalls the engagment and affects shift out....With you having stock tires, it may be hurting rather than helping...

the dalton kit is much better when you run bigger tires on the renegade. for stock tires, BRP did a dang good job with the clutching.

I can agree with you as long as your at sea level where a clutch kit helps is over 3000ft. I have owned three outty's and know a Renegade and have had to work with the clutch on all of them but most of my ridding is above 7000ft and I also have used over sized tires.

Are your rpm's the same at shiftout? if yes- its not the clutch

Any pipes or programmers? Stale gas? Tire pressure same? Body weight difference? Throttle stop screw? Air filters same and clean?

Dalton kit works great with stock tires.

On my and Outlander and my Renegade, I was clearly faster with my stock spring than the G/Y spring. With stock tires.

But they feel faster with the G/Y spring, because the motor was not loader enough. The spring doesn't affect a lot the shift out on this Vtiwn (+/-100 to 200RPM)

Keep your dalton centrifugal level and test with the stock spring.

Check also the suggestions of 800VTwin.

ok guy, finally got into the clutch today, went back to stock arms and the g/y spring, it seemed to help but not sure without racing. im going to try b800s suggestion and run dalton arms with steel weights and the stock spring. all thin terminology about shift out and stuff is confusing the crap outta me. i'll be glad when i understand how all this cvt stuff works!!!!!!!

k, went back to the completely stock set up, definately doesnt wheelie as good, im beginning to feel like i waisted my money on the dalton though cause i didnt gain mid range and lost 2 mph on top with the steel weights. either im getting used to the power i got or i aint doin something right, i dont know. it just definately feels like somethings missin somewhere. even with the reccomended setup i can barely get the front up on asphalt at 20mph! oh and i forgot to mention i am at 0 elevation too... gonna try b800s suggestion tomorrow, right now im kinda pissed and got one heck of a headache!
