What temp does fan turn on? 1000 X XC.
I read all about the cooling fan control mod, and I'm wondering if I should do this to my 2012 1000 X XC also? I know they updated the cooling system on the 1000, but I don't know what temp the fan actually kicks in at.
Anyone?
Thanks

It's always worth it, I know they did lower the temp, maybe turns on in the high 190's now?

No, 208*F is stock for G1 bikes, it's gotta be around the 200* mark.
How are you liking the tune monster?

They lowered it 5*. Comes on at 203 and goes off at 198.
So how do you expect the 198 water to cool the water down to 150. This was just enough to help with the melting seat and plastic and hot leg with the aid of the new heat deflector to satisfy some riders and still MEET the EPA requirement. The only use of the new bypass on the 2012 bikes was to get the engine temp up to operation temps faster. This helped pass EPA requirements. This was a waste of money and bike weight as far as we are concerned.
The 2012 needs the Temp controller just as much as the 2011 bikes. I first designed the use of the controller to stop the hot left leg and melting plastic and seat but it turns out now to be the only way to get the engine to run at the CA designed temp of 150. CA knows that the bike will perform its best when the engine is at 150. This is there edge on the other brands.
Keep in mind that when you are racing another brand of bike and want to show off your CA it is a speed test with the bike wide open not at a speed of 30 MPH. And when you are running the bike FAST (above 35 MPH) the bike is running with a temp of 150.

You need to lower the temp for on and off. Go down to on at 160 and off at 150.
There is no way that 180 water will get the engine temp down to 150. If CA wanted the bike to run at 180 they would have installed a 180 stat. They know at 150 the engine performs it's best.

Thanks! I thought so, but I didn't want to buy the controller if they fixed the temp issue for 2012. I'll order one soon!
Thanks guys!
