Just FYI for you guys interested in the powdercoating bit. Here are the colors available for the Craftsman kit I purchased for $189. The packets are $4.99 apiece.

I think powder coating the hitches is the way to go. I am waiting to see if they switch over to powder coating before I buy one. If they dont by the time I want one I would ask if they can send it unfinished and I would powder coat it myself. The powder coating is much more durable.

I agree that powder coating is more durable and looks better. However on my Jeep I discovered that powder coating does not hold up all that well once the surface is scratched. Water gets in under it and starts popping the powder coat off in junks. I found that if I use a couple of coats of primers and a couple of coats of paint parts seem to hold up and if they get scratched down to the metal its an easy rattle can fix. Also when its time to redo the part completely I don't need to strip every bit of paint off as I would with powder coat.

I agree with OFFCAMBER. I built my own hitch receiver and just painted it with gloss Rustoleum. It looks great. And it will be scratched with use and I can repaint it. I had powder coated a whole bunch of chassis parts on my 1995 Impala SS show/race car and the parts exposed to road trips (front swaybar and rear swaybar and transmission pan) chipped over about 6 months of use and I could not touch them up...they stayed with chips. If I had them to do over I would not have powdercoated them. Just my personal experience. Some things are better just painted.

Sorry guy's been wicked busy the last week and half :ban: I agree some stuff is good powder coated but i think at this time we will stick to the painted hitches. Its cheaper for us also guy's i was hoping i wouldnt have to do this but the price has jumped for forum members to 49.00 dollers and retail is going to 68.99 we went to a diff. supplier for the base plate which mount's to the stock hitch the new plate is a 1 piece instead of two that we used in the earlier models. Sorry guy's trying to offer a better product and still be at a low price we feel that this price is still fair. New price will be effective april 1.:sm:

Still a good price Mike. Are you making any progress on the can/cooler rack?
