Insulated shed

Does anyone have their shed insulated and if so does it keep it warm enough for the snow to melt off the bike? I have 3x200watt bulbs in there for light but thinking if the shed is insulated and I left the lights on that it might be enough.

Any thoughts?

My "shed" is 24 x 44 with a 100,000 BTU gas unit heater, and the snow definitely melts off the machine!! LOL..... Seriously though I guess it depends on how well insulated and how cold it is outside. My contractor buddy says if you want a warm building, don't install any windows. He heats it VERY warm with a wood furnace. A local company sells what they call Happy Shacks, which use solid extruded foam wrapped in steel inside and out. They sell them for starting seedlings in the winter. Hmmmmm....what kind of seeds would you want to start year round?

If you have a cement floor it will hold the heat for a while but once the floor temp drops below freezing the bulbs wont do it. It depends on how cold your weather gets.

Ya I have a wood floor and was planning on putting foam sheets down and then lay plywood over it. It does not have to be too warm but when its -20 with wind chill of -30 I start having trouble with my snowblower cables freezing. So just a bit of difference would be great. I could put a ceramic heater in there to give a bit of heat to help melt the snow off the bike for the most part. It only gets -20 for maybe a couple weeks in the winter.

Easier to hook hot water up to your garden hose w/one of them long taps that dont freeze.... otherwise, u'd need a heater with a fan to get the heat under the atv (heat rises) and it will take forever.Even a heated garage takes a long time to melt them off cause the floor holds the cold. Garages with "in floor heating" work awesome but u cant turn the heat off. I have heard of an electric "mat" version but haven't ever seen them. Your snowblower cables have moisture in them that needs to be removed (WD40 them when they're completely thawed, then blow out excess & undo any kinks that can prevent gravity drainage). The price we pay for frozen lakes,lol
