Hello all. Long time rider here. Coming from Polaris, Yamaha, and a Honda trx 250r. Finally decided to spend the money and buy my dream mud monster. I picked up a 2017 Renegade 1000 XMR last week. Looking forward to learning as much as possible from you guys. Ride on!

Holly cow Jaymeister: Dreams do come true. You acquired the "monster" as some call it. I have an Outlander Max LTD, which is a more sedate trail rider with lots of standard equipment on it.

I lived in Minnesota 27 years and loved it. I moved to Colorado two years ago and like it here too. ATV riding in Minnesota is okay in rural areas as many farmers use them as work machines. Some localities have passed ordinances that allow ATV street and rural road riding. Watertown is one of those small towns. Minnesota is home to Polaris and Arctic Cat. The state has had a huge influence on the ATV hobby, as well as snowmobiling. I don't remember just a whole bunch of ATV trails there. I do remember bad press from idiots who venture off the trail into the wetlands and tear things up. Then trails close for all. Take photos and report idiots who violate trail riding rules.

Welcome to the Can Am club. I have 30 hours on mine with no defects to report. And trail riding in the mountains is hard on the machine. Lots and lots of rocks. Check out I-70 way down in the valley below. I wondered how many times my Can Am would roll over on the way down if I drove off the trail.
