The stock springs are rather soft. I've been thinking about getting the HPG kit all around. How much stiffer are the HD springs compared to the ones in the HPG "kit". I don't want to go to stiff. The soft ride is nice as it soaks up the bumps but sucks when cornering. A progressive, dual rate shock would probably be the best.

Check with the shock manufacture for the part number of the shock that fits.

BRP offers an HPG shock & spring "kit" upgrades for the front and rear as an accessory so contact your local dealer for those.

The stock oil shock valving is set that they basicly just dampen and therefore have very little "push". Springs hold the machine up. They take up the forces from bumps and pot holes. Shocks stop the springs from oscillating. Gas shocks react much quicker while still dampening.

Call Ian at Monster Performance. Suspension is all he does.. For those who are on Ski doo talk they know him well there. He has a great reputation for both sleds and quads.

The Renegade stock springs are stiffer than the HD springs for the outty.

If you can't crank your shocks enough on your XXC look into some spring spacers.

Shocks should collapse easier than extending. The oil shocks will stay where you put them. Gas assisted shocks will extend on their own. If you can easily compress or extend a shock it is no good. If it leaks it is no good. If it doesn't move it is no good. If its bent in half it is no good. Etc. shocks do nothing to hold weight, that is all the springs job. Shocks will simply change the handling characteristics of the unit. I hope this helps.

As stated in the two replies above. Adjust the spring load to max. If that doesn't help then try spring spacers to increase the preload. Another option would be to see if someone such as Ian could bebuild the shocks with a stiffer spring. If you have a '10 XXC then you should have piggy backed KYBs correct? They are dual rate with threaded adjustment. They probaly have a stiffer spring than the HD springs for the Outty. I doubt the coil dia. are close enough that they work with the KYB retainers.

What do you have for a plow (and mounting system)? You'll have some settling and will have to learn "winch control" to compensate. Yes that gets annoying.

Oh, another option would be to use a trick many pullers like to get away with and that is locking the suspension. Devise a clamps for the lower A-arms that can be welded to a bar. I've seen ratchet straps used as well. However if you plow mount is the common mid chassis style such limiters will interfere with lifting the plow.
