2002 Grizzly 660 problems can someone help?

Thought I'd post this on here. A friend of mine has this low mileage Yamaha that has presented an issue. It simply stop running when his daughter was going down the road. It bucked and spitted then stopped with smoke coming out. When I got it I found that the crank case was full of gas. I cleaned all that out, cleaned out the carb and replaced the needle. Put it all back together and it finally fired up. It seems to run fine but now it's spitting enormous amount of oil out of the breather tube and into the airbox. Everything else though seems fine and it's not burning anything out the exhaust.

The only other thing I found was the breather tube was kinked and also had a hole so I repaired it but it's no better. For a while he had a problem with the fuel bowl spitting out fuel if you left the valve on. The only other thing I found was that it had the original air filter and was falling apart.

The only other thing that has me worried was that last month he had let his nephew take it to Utah to ride but he never had anyone go through it prior to the trip. I think with the fuel issue and a poor airfilter probably did it in. What do you guys think????

This may sound dumb, but how much oil is in it? It's not over filled is it? It should take 2.2 quarts!

possibly head gasket? Carb. float level too high and wonder if there is a lot of fuel that went into the engine oil and now fuming out?

Well when I first got it running again I dumped the oil which seemed like about a quart came out. I left it drain plug out for about an hour but nothing else came out. The oil was black as tar but didn't smell like gas.

I then put 2 quarts of oil along with about 1/3 quart of Lucas oil treatment. This being said I doubt it's too much oil in there.

We've had a problem with 4 Yamaha's and they're dam needles and seat.

The things from Mikuni just don't seal!! If you leave the fuel on you'll have a puddle of gas underneath and the oil with be over full as its full of gas. The air filter is rotted away by gas....lots of fun.

Take off the Carb and send it in!! Ive tried to replace to stupid things like 5 times with limited success.

We even had this happen on a machine with less than 15 hours on it.

2005 Big Bear 400 -- 15 hours -- happened (Like 7 times)
2006 Grizzly 660 -- 1100kms -- happend twice
1994 Big Bear -- Wrapped Odo -- NEVER HAPPENED
2006 Kodiak 450 -- NEW not even one day puddles LOL
Mid 2000's Kodiak same thing

Popular problem huh? Its the needle and seat stop looking further and send it in (ALL repaired finally with one sent back under warranty)

Note: There is a better fix out there, Edelbrock makes a 660 Grizzly carb with like a 12 HP gain (not to mention no more Mikuni needle and seat problems) -- if you guys have some extra cash this is the route to go. I'll tell ya, If it happens to my Griz again SIANARA!!
