Friction washer orientation

I just took my primary clutch apart to clean it and I don’t remember how the friction washer gets oriented since there is a flat side and a side with a lil on it. Does the lip on the washer go towards the one way bearing or towards the spring retainer?? Any info here would b much appreciated

There are two washers on the bolt that holds the primary clutch in, the thin one is the friction washer and the thick one is the Conical Spring Washer. In my manual it does not say anything about the orientation of the friction washer, but the Conical Spring Washer has the NOTE "Install the conical spring washer with it's concave side towards the clutch", could that be the washer your referring to?

The machine is a 2019 outlander 1000R XT-P. If I’m giving the parts the right name the conical washer that holds the spring can really only go one way due to the spring being recessed in the washer. At the end of the conical/spring washer/retainer there is a thin black almost rubber material washer that I am calling the friction washer. This piece goes in between the conical washer and the one way bearing. This lil black washer has a flat side and a side with a lip on it. When I took the clutch apart this washer fell off before I could see what side goes towards the one way bearing.

I thought you were referring to the washers under the bolt head. The part that you are referring to that holds the spring is called the "Spring Seat". I went to an on-line parts store https://www.powersportsdiscount.com/...der-except-xmr and saw that you do in fact have a friction washer there, however I'm afraid I can't shed any light on your question (my 2015 Outlander 1000 xt does not have that friction washer at all). Sorry.

The lip goes toward the motor and oneway. It's purpose is to provde a little friction to slowly turn the secondary clutch and hopefully line up gearbox gears for gear changing. Lightly grease it with isoflex before assembly.
