07 outlander 500 cutting out

I have an 07 outty 500 and today when I was riding it. It woul die for a split second like someone turned the key of an then it would come right back. It didn't do it constant it would do it 5 or six times in about five minutes then it didn't do it it again for about another 2 or three hours. Also it died a couple times while idling but fired right back up. Is it the fuel pump causing this I'm going to get a new fuel filter first to see if that's my issue any suggestions.
