07 Outlander 500 Speedometer Problems

2499 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Bweigel
I have an 07 outlander 500 and last night I was riding it and my speedometer started jumping around going from 30 mph to 10 mph etc... and I thought that maybe if I switched it to digital readout that the problem might be in my analog gauge. It did the same thing on the digital readout but my tachometer worked fine on both the digital and the analog making me thinks that my gauge cluster is fine. Any suggestions on what it might be if its a sensor or something causing this?

Possible dirty speed sensor. It is located near the 4x4 actuator.
Where is the 4x4 actuator
Go to your dipstick look back towards the back about 3 inches. There's a black plastic cover that you have to remove. There's a round black plastic piece that has a semi oval extension on it with a bolt that goes through it. Will be the only sensor with one wire on it. It is a magnetic pickup that gets dirty with steel particles and causes your speedometer and odometer to read inaccurately.

How do you switch from analog to digital mode? My analog speedometer has started reading RPMs
Go to your odometer and hold the button that switched between readout and it will change it
