Would someone kindly point me to the primary clutch removal tool for an ‘04 Outlander 400? Specifically the one with reverse threads. Need to change my bendix. Ordered one and received it but it was regular threads and the diameter was too big. Thanks in advance!

What part number did you order/receive?

To the best of my knowledge, it's not the tool that's any different, it's just how you use it. Lefty tighty righty loosey

OP does have to pull the inner sheave off the crank snout to access the bendix on the 400's. I just wasn't aware there was anything different or special about the single pop vs. the twins tool

Thanks for the welcome! Been reading as much as I can…. Looking stuff up online but cant find anything that helps. The tool has right hand threads therefore wont thread into left hand threads. Heres the number from amazon I ordered. (Replaces OEM 529-000-064,529-035-746). The shaft of the tool is also thicker than the hole.
I’ll go give it another shot. I feel confused…. Its a simple tool.

How soon do you have to know?

I wont have time until Saturday but will pop mine off again to verify I am giving you correct info. I have a 2004 400 also so it should be the same.
Sure, please let me know! I can wait til then I suppose. Just need to find the tool.

The tool is the same as the v twins it threads into the clutch not the crankshaft so it is regular righty tighty thread.

Maybe im confused. When you remove the bolt in the primary, its left hand thread. I assumed the tool threaded into the same threads that the bolt came from. Now im assuming not. I will give it another go when I get home. Not exactly sure that there are threads right inside the hole. But I will check! Thanks for the reply. I really didnt think it was this difficult lol

I believe this is the puller I used

3803-0113 parts unlimited
EPI brand part # PCP-16


Looks to be right hand thread. Keep in mind
step 1 = is to remove the left hand bolt.
step 2 = Then remove outer portion and spring
step 3 = install tool to remove inner portion .

Tomorrow I will pull mine and take pictures.

Haha it's really not. Maybe send us a picture of your tool and we can make sure it is correct.

I got it! Had to go back and watch another video. I didnt know the primary popped off when the bolt was removed. Mine wasnt budging. Thought I used the tool to remove primary when in reality its for the secondary. A lil bit of persuasion and it popped off. Thank you for those who replied (i feel like an idiot) and im sure ill be back for some more confusion.
