Old news. My dealer told me the same thing a month ago. All new chassis, and 1000cc instead of 800cc.

Either way I would be happy to see a 1000cc but would be super happy with an 800 as well. I can't wait to see if they are doing a face life?!?!? or redesign. Thats more of what I'm interested in.

I believe its their 50th birthday so I would imagine something cool is coming out of this.

Well the 1000 Arctic Cat certainly isn't "too much". It is about the only ATV that has "enough" power, along with the 800 Can Am's. A 1000 Can Am would be just about right in the power department if you ask me.

I agree with 3tv. No just thing as too much power. I do hope they put it in the outty thow. Im ready for a outlander this time. And if they only put it in the gade well i guess ill buy that.

They may very well do away with the 800s. A month ago, when dealers were allowed to start ordering their 2012 allotment of ATVs, the biggest change noted was that dealers could no longer order an 800cc Outlander or Renegade. That is when the first speculation about a 1000cc Outlander and Renegade for 2012 started.

But the AC 1000 is a single cylinder that does not push the power the 1000 would. I can see the government stopping production because of hp. I don't know regulations but the government might say for an ATV to be mass produced by a manufacture, you can have only so many hp per let's say foot of length. Not saying that is true but that could be the reasoning, because I do not believe there is any manufactured ATV out there that is producing the 81 hp the 1000 is supposed to be pushing.

The government doesn't care how many horsepower an ATV makes, ... within reason. They might say something if there were an ATV with a 6.1 hemi under the hood, but I doubt it.

Doesn't the Arctic Cat 1000 make 70 hp, the 800 Can Am make 71 hp, the 1000 Can Am make 85 hp, and the Polaris 900 HP make 88 hp, and the soon to be released Arctic Cat Wildcat with the 1000 HO motor make 95 hp?

Based on those numbers, Can Am is being beat by the competition. That is why Can Am is bringing out the 1000 in an ATV.

Since the 85hp is based off the Commander, wouldnt it be set up to produce more torque and bottom end in favor of top end HP since it is twice the wt?

I'm pretty sure the 1000 arctic cat is 65Hp with the single exhaust

From 2008 to 2010 the arctic cat thundercats put out 65 hp but as of 2011 they are up to 70 hp. I would not say this engine is garbage but cc for cc it does not put out like a can-am!

Is there a release date set yet for the 2012 lineup.

I know this 1000 talk has my interest perked again in Can-am. I have been gravitating to the dark side for the past few years, sort of been there done that with the 800 can-am's the point I wanted something different, and Polaris adding EPS did the trick for me.

Now I still do prefer EPS to DPS, but a 1000cc mill would probably sway me back into the Can-am showroom regardless. LOL

be nice to see a 1000,,,but i'm still waiting for my stealth snorkel kit after 6 weeks,,,so i ain't gettin all worked up,,,besides,,,think the bigger motors will mean heavier machines,,,think less weight would be more enjoyable,,,for the power of the 800,,,plus more adjustability on the dps,,,would like alittle more assist,,,runnin in 4 wd,,,its better then the grizzly,,,but not as easy as the popo,,,but the popo is too easy at fast speeds,,,,just moanin,,,

I finally managed to speak my buddy who owns a can am dealer, and confirmed at the moment for 2012 is the outlander 400 and commander. From his order lists there is no other available renegade or outlander. He says that they may come out with something new BUT he also spoke with an engineer over at can am and was told they couldn't fit the 1000 in the renegade or outlander due to clearance problems with the transmission. What does this all mean? it could go either way, the big 2012 launch is scheduled here in montreal july 16. I'm gonna be the first one there lol and i'll be posting up as they do the release.
