Hello, thanks for letting me join.
My 450 will only run wide open. I suspect the in tank filter may be plugged.
It backfires and stalls when I let off the throttle.
I’ve eliminated the simple stuff like spark plug and tank ventilation.
I’d appreciate any suggestions before I start ripping off fenders and racks to get at the tank.
It failed on a mountain just after getting stuck in the mud making me walk back 10 miles in mosquitoes infested swamp.

Welcome to the site, that sounded like a pleasant stroll through the woods- not

Alternatively to any issue with the fuel pickup sock or filter, check the operation of the actual fuel pump itself. I'd be more inclined to believe it's your issue, and not any of the supporting cast. If you can plumb in a gauge, you should see ~51 psi as normal operating pressure.
