2017 800r DPS - Coolant Smell?

Hey guys, I searched the forum and couldn't find anything on this. I've got a brand new 2017 800r DPS that absolutely REEKS of coolant. It sat for about a month and then I started it up and let it idle for a good half hour and then took it for a little stroll in low. Stopped during the ride and saw some smoke coming from around the front left headlight. Took it back home and found a tiny bit of coolant on the left side radiator removable cover and some up near the top left above where the hose connects to the radiator. I ordered a high pressure cap, put that on, and cleaned up what had spilled. My guess is that it just got too hot from idling and possibly boiled over. I have looked, high and low, and cannot see it leaking anywhere since I got the new cap, but it stinks incredibly bad. I can smell it standing 15 feet away from it. It only starts stinking once it gets up to temperature. The coolant tank isn't going down, so I'm wondering if it's just from where it leaked before and I need to spray it off really good or what? I'm planning on replacing all of these bullsh*t pinch clamps with worm gear clamps soon. Anyone else had this issue? Thank you!

Actually screw clamp can loosen up especially if a cheap version is used, constant tension clamp is a better option. As far as coolant smell you need to wash the radiator & surrounding area really well with water & use compressed air to dry it off low pressure. Ride it some to burn off the rest. If it still smells you might still have a leak pressure check the cooling system to find any other leaks.

Congratulations on scoring a brand new 800R DPS. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing challenges with your unit. As @ROCKCRUSHER said, a good cleaning might resolve your matter. However, for safety purposes, we would suggest you to bring your unit to your dealer for a check up. Thanks, Stephanie BRP Care.

Anti Freeze Smell

I have the same smell with my 2015 commander 800.I took the panel off on the inside seen a couple of puddles so i cleaned up and don't see any more fluid but smells bad when warmed up the fan works so I never see it getting hot . I asked the dealer he said they all leak some not sure I believe that.
I guess since i have a part I will spray it down with water but the radiator tank was low so it's going some where

They don't all leak. That's a load of BS just to get you out the door. If they all leaked, you would have a hard time getting the pressure you need to let the coolant perform like it's suppose to. A pressurized coolant system prevents it from boiling off and your engine overheating. Once all the air is out of the system, you should rarely have to top off the coolant bottle.

Clean it off as good as you can and keep an eye on the coolant bottle level. The level will probably be at a different point when completely cold vs at operating temp. If it's not leaking, the smell will eventually go away. If it consistently eats coolant, find the problem or get in in under warranty to fix it.
