What motor oil additive are you all using in your machines?

They make a fuel additive also, K22, I think it's called.

Seeing pictures off the top end, head off, and very little carbon made me consider.

It certainly won’t hurt. I have used it in gas car and pickup engines regularly. Saw the big difference it made on wear. You are correct. Their fuel additive is just as good as the MOA.

 

I heard a disturbing knock on my last ride. My visor was cracked open one notch and engine noise reverberated in my helmet. There was no knocking sound when the visor was closed nor when it was fully open. The knocking sound only occurred when the visor was cracked open by one notch.
My conclusion was that the noise came from the intake. Pistons gulping air can make a knocking mechanical sound. Anyways that's my story and I am sticking to it.

 

Brand new old stock 24 850 here and I have the knock. Its in the shop now for the knock and some weird kind of drive clunk when I brake into a corner and gas out it clunk/knocks real hard like a big rock hitting the under of the frame. Have no idea what that is and I am so sick of the bike after only 3 weeks of ownership. Twice in the shop in 3 weeks. Thicker oil made the engine knock worse.

Did anyone get an answer from the dealer shop yet? Its been 1yr since post.

The clunk when you decelerate then give it throttle is the secondary clutch . It is normal but I try to be smooth on the throttle so not beat the rollers to death. Google the QRS can am secondary clunk.

 

Problem is....NO ONE would buy it with a rod knock noise. Dealer trade is half what I paid 3 weeks ago so either way I am . Mine is not a tick its a loud hard knock just like a rod knock. The 10-50 oem oil made it louder. My noise didn't start until 10hrs over 120 miles. If it was normal it would have had it brand new, which it didn't.

I believe Can-am has bots telling everyone the noises the machine makes is normal so they don't go out of business fixing broken machines.

Have you sent a sample of your oil to Blackstone Labs for analysis? Eye-balling oil won't tell you much unless you have 1/4" chunks of metal.

I have owned many different makes of bikes, quads, snow machines, jet skis and not a one of them made any of the noises this thing makes. So disappointing!

I understand what you are saying. I would try a different dealer. My noise is normal as I have been able to compare it to several machines. It definitely is not a knock. I pour the used oil through tight cloth that is white and I put a clean magnet in the oil as well. No metal. I wish you good luck.

 

OK back from second dealer (biggest one in 300 miles).
All sounds "NORMAL"

So now I have to either sell it, ride it and wait for it to break or buy insurance and wait for it to break or not.

I have over 50 years of working on mechanical things I own under my belt. I can tell you a knock, not present at new, that only does it hot, after sitting, is NOT normal. I am going to put some miles on it and send off an oil sample to Blackstone labs for analysis. They can tell if there is an issue by determining what metals are found in the oil.

I guess the next thing is how it will sound at -20f this winter when I plow.

Oh and the dealer said the knock was injector knock.

Can someone tell me why it would only do it hot and after sitting for 30-45mins?
