Hey, does anyone have any opinions on using Dexcool from GM I was reading the bottle and it says it is silicate free.

You will find different opinions but from personal experience, I don’t like the stuff. I used it in my big block Chevy with aluminum heads and aluminum radiator. That stuff was sticky and messy. It did not perform any better. I dumped it and ran straight deionized water of 6 months. Then went back to the green stuff with the usual success story.
I caution you not to mix the two products in any quantity. Some have reported the mixure produced a gelatinous result, causing more damage.
Did I mention that stuff is sticky!

Dexcool needs to be isolated from the air.
GM has went to surge tanks instead of overflow tanks because of this.

Not sure what Can am has on it,

I just put engine ice in mine. Haven’t had a chance to ride it much yet, but heard good things.

Engine Ice is rated to -26ÂşF/ -32ÂşC. I ran it in my 07 Outlander. You MUST clean and flush out ALL traces of old antifreeze before filling with Engine Ice or it will make "goop bubbles" that will block coolant flow. Personally, I think it may have been good for a degree or two, but really not noticeable. If you are looking for cooler temps the best way is a ECU reflash (yes, I'm sounding like a broken record today). Next best thing would be to run an external fan controller....lots of guys did this.

I wanted to run engine is but I store my bike in a none heated shed. I heard that it is not rated for cold winters. Do you guys have any other suggestions.

Thanks

I live in northern Ontario, time to time we get -40 C for a couple days a year sometime a week. I don't know if I want to risk it. I am not trying to run the engine cooler just yet but have looking in to the ECU by Monster. For know I am looking for a good green coolant I can buy by the gallon. Do guys know If Artic cat, Polaris, Suzuki run a green coolant and is sold by the gallon? I can not justify paying 13 to 15 dollars a litre for the can am stuff.

Thanks
