Belt looks very loose. IE: possibly wrong belt. You should be able to adjust the width of the secondary and make it tighter. The belt should hang out of the top of the secondary a couple of mm’s when at rest and be fairly tight. Not like a snowmobile clutch. I assume the CV Tech has a 1-way bearing? If so, make the belt as tight as you want in the secondary. Are the clutches aligned properly?

Yes, the CVTech clutch has a one way bearing. How do I make the belt more tight?

Im all about saving a buck and im certainly not saying it's the problem BUT, It would probably be best to install a quality belt - Gates, GBoost, EVO or the like.

Where is the Niche belt made?

I could be wrong but...... I would send that belt back.

The ribs on the belt should ride outside the outer edge of the secondary, and it should not be "saggy"....should be taught.
Is there something holding the secondary open slightly? If not, the belt is below spec narrow AND possibly too long.

Hmmm...I've had a STM secondary on all my machines since 2007....I've hardly fiddled with the stock secondarys...never occurred to me they weren't adjustable.

Yes, exactly like the photo below as an example.

I mean, not that I've ever heard of or even been hinted at. Other than springs or clutch kits, it would take some shims or something, in the stock secondary, to change the sheaves distance and belt tension. I'm not aware of any such products/applications.

My skidoo has the qrs secondary. It is adjustable without shims. Great idea.
Most vehicles with a bearing in the primary (aka one-way) are non adjustable.

Update:

New belt installed (BRP), still the same problem. Seems to be a clutch alignment story. Is there a procedure to check and put the alignment good?

What rpm are you hitting at top speed vs rpm at top speed when you have it jacked up?

If the belt is slipping then it would be eating belts because of the heat and the secondary would have black marks on it from slipping.

Not easy to know, I don't have an RPM gauge cluster.

Yes, the belt is wearing prematurely now because it is slipping.

Factory service manual should detail the secondary, but you'd have to check the CVtech instructions for any shims or spacers needed on the primary.
