Beware of Team industries clutch!

I had a very unfortunate experience with Team industries last week. I want to share my experience with everyone in hopes it can save some one from the same outcome. I had over 12k invested in an awesome Can am Maverick setup. Unfortunatly a team clutch was part of my upgrades and after only 100 miles. (Stock clutch lasted 500 miles and was perfect when I did the supposid uprade) The Team industries cluth absolutly exploded and shot a ramp ( with the nut and bolt) through the plastics and stuck in the back of the drivers seat. If it would have been 3" higher this would have gone through the hole in the seat and stabbed me in the neck. Team industries states they only recommend their clutch for stock applications. (interesting as aerocharger includes them with their kit) Team also states that they offer no warrant on their products and it is on the consumer as this is a performance product. I even spoke with Mark the plant manager and he went as far as stating that they dont even have a warranty department. I asked him were the vm for prompt #2 went as it states warranty department on their greeting, he did not have an answer for me. After hours of debating with team industries so called warranty department they will not stand behind their product or do anything for me. When the clutch exploded it took out the motor and several other parts. I am now forced to sell my maverick in pieces due to my trust in team industries. Do your self a favor and spend the extra $ on the STM primary as it could cost you everything if you dont.

Thank you for reading this post

Pictures please.

I'm still not afraid of my Team clutch!
Dang That sucks:( I would've been very mad at them with that you should sue or something:/ luckily your okay but gosh that makes no sense you spend out your hard earned money on something an some bad product fuçks your whole machine!.
Performance parts are just that……..
It could of been overtourqued, we don't know…...
I thought Team primaries for can am are a thing of the past, no? And if that is their response to something so serious wow! What if that had hit a bystander then who's liable? If not them... That only leaves you. Funny how it's a "performance part " used by blah blah blah on his 9 million horse mud machine, better stronger faster than, cv tech or any one else... But they conveniently never mention it's really only strong enough for a stock motor!! Funny cuz that goes against all their advertising. So team is saying a clutch kit would be better than a Team primary if your making any extra power? What bullsh_ _! Wonder what VFJ 's take on this is since he sells their product and stands behind what he sells where would that leave him of you had purchased his primary? All comes down to greed! Obviously there was a problem with Your clutch, so stand behind your product, shit happens, apologies to your customer, replace it, and look into if there may be an underlying problem you need to address; that would be the proper response but unfortunately greed and maybe some degree or arrogance prevents some companies from behaving in a way they would expect from their venders. Sorry so long winded that kind of stuff pisses me off! By the way I am trying to make a decision on a primary myself. VFJ seems to garner a lot of respect from members here for his knowledge and customer service that goes a long way for me, nothing beats having an honest parts guy.

I wonder if an impact gun had any affect on that breaking around both of those threaded sections?
Looks like a total failure. QSC should step up to the plate....
I love my team VFJ clutch I agree I need to see pictures !!!!!
The pic was in their other thread in the Maverick section.

Where did you see anything about QSC in his post?? OR are you saying QSC should help the guy out? Not sure.

QSC had the same thing happen in testing with several of the stock team clutches and decided to make their own posts and fixed sheaves due to the problems they encountered from it. One even cost them an engine case on one of their race bikes.

It is crappy of team not to stand behind it, but I wonder where he got it from and why he's not going back to them for it. And I'd like to see pictures as well.

If this happened with a QSC clutch bought from you all. What would your response be?

Crickets? heh heh
Seriously though, where did VFJ section go? Was trying to look for something in the "clutch thread" but can't find it now ... with search either.
A clutch can fly apart if a flyweight bolt comes loose or backs out or if the clutch has a balance issue, vibration or if rpm goes high enough.
Was the clutch ever dropped or damaged? Machined or modified? what is your rev limiter at?

But how could the clutch take out the engine? What exactly i wrong? An engine problem causing vibration or harmonics would be more liable to take out a clutch.
